Eurogate is one of the leading container terminal groups in Europe and operates 21 modern container gantry cranes and an additional seven loading bridges at the Port of Hamburg, which enable fast and smooth train handling at Germany's largest railway station for combined freight transport, Eurokombi, which is located directly at the terminal. To ensure that the rail-loading cranes run fail-safe despite continuous operation, Eurogate relies on our energy chains, cables and smart plastics.

When energy chains reach the end of their life, they usually end up as industrial waste because there are no options for sustainable reuse. A linear economy that igus wants to put an end to with the "chainge" program. Since 2019, we have been collecting used energy chains from all manufacturers so that they can be recycled and new products can be created from the material. Other components made from technical plastics can also be recycled via the "chainge" online platform.
Eurogate finds this approach of returning old energy chains to the manufacturer to recover raw materials very important. Torben Schröder: "We have already had a chain recycled without any problems and are delighted to be able to continue to utilise this offer from igus in the interests of sustainability."
