Overview

Various methods such as stretch or shrink technology can be used for labelling. Linear and rotary bearing products as well as energy chains from igus are used in various areas, which must meet numerous requirements such as high precision and wear resistance, freedom from lubricants, corrosion resistance or resistance to cleaning agents.

Using the Sleevematic TS from Krones AG as an example, the various stations of modern labelling machines and the igus products used in them are shown below: The polymer products perform a wide variety of tasks such as the cross and height adjustments of the sleeve brush, belt station or the infeed and outfeed sensors.

The Sleevematic TS from Krones AG can label up to 50,000 containers an hour with just one unit. A large number of lubrication-free plain bearing components, which have proven their worth at Krones for many years, are also used.

The transverse adjustment of the belt station is guaranteed by an iglidur J trapezoidal thread flange nut, which is lubrication-free and insensitive to dirt. For the height adjustment, iglidur J flange nuts are used.

The height adjustment of the sleeve brush is ensured by a trapezoidal lead screw nut in combination with drylin R solid plastic plain bearings . This made it possible to work very compactly and cost-effectively.

Previously used metallic bearings in the guide rollers did not run smoothly enough and the complete roller stopped sometimes. Today, they each consist of two smooth-running xiros polymer ball bearings and an anodised aluminium tube.
